3essentials.com,  is this a good hosting side? I experience badly. Will jump Ship to another hosting.

I use it with great results, wonderful support as well. Most of the support folks are DNN savvy and can assist with issues. My sites are fairly speedy as well even with heavy loads.

Hello Caesar,

3Essentials does have a good rep for hosting DotNetNuke. They are one of the hosts that do know DNN more than most, but if you are not happy with their service I would like to extend you an offer to check us out. We are the world's largest DotNetNuke hosting provider and we specialize in just hosting DotNetNuke.

Check us out here! Let me know what you think, and feel free to contact me with any questions.

I too am looking for a better "AFFORDABLE" DNN hosting provider.

Last year i recommended Hostgator to a client i designed a site for and for a year everything ran perfectly... then after a year... all of a sudden the customers site went down and he called me after getting no where with Hostgator support...

After i called Hostgator support to find out what was the issue, they played the DotNetNuke "FEAR" card and said yes, we installed it for you but we do not support DNN when there are issues... and 3 times different technicians told me to go back to www.dotnetnuke.com for support... WHICH MADE NO SINCE!... Each tech i asked them how does a DNN site that sits running perfectly for a year suddenly just go DOWN?!

Finally i found the issue... Hostgator had upgraded and performed maintenance on the shared server by upgrading DotNet to 4.5 without checking for any patches and it KILLED ALL THE DNN SITES... and they LEFT IT AT THAT.  So my clients site sat for 2 weeks down. And every Hostgator tech stood by their recorded script of we are hosters not programmers... go to DotNetNuke.com to get help... IT WAS AMAZING USE OF I Don't Know Nothn' bout no DNN even after they installed the portal.
WOW...

Finally i got their attention when i uploaded a simple NON-DNN aspx file to the server and showed them that they were having a DotNet issue...because their server suddenly couldn't even serve up a simple ASPX DotNet file. It was then that ONE tech did some research and realized "OOPS" and admitted, Yes we did update the server but failed to apply a patch that would not kill DNN sites.
WOW... they patched DOTNET on the server and BACK CAME THE DNN SITE!

Now please do not get me wrong, Hostgator is a pretty good hosting provider, they have some decent offers, but not so much when it comes to DNN that they install... as they are HOSTERS not DNN Portal Support...

Just keep that in mind... as i too am looking for an affordable  DNN hosting provider that will actually use caution when updating the servers and not leave the sites to hang afterwards.

Again, not a complaint... just a note for all DNN designers and programmers to be aware of when searching for a DNN hosting provider.

Best Regards,

@RegGFX places like HostGator are great if you have a static site and do not plan on having anything upgraded, content deployed, or 24/7 phone support (free phone support, and not getting charged because you called in). These hosts are a dime a dozen and you really do get what you pay for with these types of hosts.

"Affordable" does not always end up being your most cost effective solution. When those sites went down and you didn't receive any help, how much time out of your schedule did you take to try and rectify that situation? Would you have liked to a) never have to worry about your sites because you know they are backed by experts or b) if something were to happen it gets fixed immediately after you call? These two scenarios are what you get with premium hosts. Sure it may cost a bit more initially, but you have a peace of mind knowing that people know the platform you are on and can assist you immediately when the need arises.

Now let me ask you this, how much is your time worth? Is it worth $20 a month, knowing that you never have to worry about your hosting provider and never worry about not getting support. The only reason why I ask is because sometimes people end up going cheap, and losing money for their business because their site is down, it has errors or doesn't function properly. You may end up losing more than what you would pay with a host like PowerDNN, Appliedi, or 3Essentials.

Just some food for thought, but I think that if you hold any importance for your website, it will benefit you more in the long run to go with a reliable, well known DotNetNuke host.
