I've asked my hosting provider to make a copy of my DNN site and a backup of my SQL database for me.  I installed both locally and am able to open them by going to localhost.  I can browse all of my content fine.

The problem I am having is that when I open my site as a website in VS 2010 and try to build it, I get a bunch of errors in multiple pages.  I can't figure out what I need to do to be able to successfully build the project so I can begin doing module development. Are there any special add-ons that I need to get this working from within VS?  Is anyone else running into this situation?

You don't build the site to create modules. Leave the site alone, get Christoc's template for VS and then create new modules that way.
