Thanks Will...

Yeah - I see where you could have some issues. I feel like this is an area, though, where DNN can lean heavily on the modular structure of pages. For what I have in mind, the modules wouldn't need to integrate because I would just apply settings for those specific ones as needed.

So, for example, if the journal just had a setting for Group ID and when it rendered, it basically did GroupID > -1 ? GroupID : Request.QueryString("GroupID") then everything would be fine.

That way, if I had a specific group, I would just add the journal for it wherever I want it and on whatever page I want it and just set the GroupID... the same way I'd add the member directory where I want it... I probably wouldn't use the social groups module at all - why not just use an HTML module and make it text. For a set group that already exists in the site, that's much much easier anyway... and I may just be adding something to pages that already exist.

That would really be fantastic for my organization - and I would think many others as well. We have existing sub-groups of 100-300 people that are defined in our constitution. It would be great if I could add a directory and journal on their existing member pages.

I may also want to do the traditional social groups thing - but I'd add that separately in a different area of the site.
