I was able to confirm that the issue for me was a time out error on the installation. From a clean install, their are too many modules to load. If you move all but html and links out of hte install directory before installation, the install will complete.

Once the install is successful, you can move the remaining modules back in the install directory and run install.aspx?mode=InstallResources. I still had to run that twice to get all the modules it, but at least it worked.

I don't really know much about the structure of the files. Can anyone fix the installation so this isn't a problem? I see this just getting worse as DNN gets larger if people are starting to get the issues now.

Is there a way to increase the timeout time?

Thanks and take care.

I found out you can set the "request timeout" in the ASP.NET application settings in IIS which modifies the web.config.
I changed it to 520 from 110 and it still fails on the same module installing (forum) so I don't think its a timeout issue.

I'm so stuck I can't cleanly install DNN!

Hiya LeifJohnston,

As you said this is Definitely a timeout issue ( Or the fact that DNN is taking way to long to install )

The only way I too could get it to install was by removing the modules from the install directory.

Installing DNN

Once the install is successful, move the remaining modules back into the install directory and run install.aspx?mode=InstallResources.

I too had to do this twice to get all Modukes install.

Furthemore...My server is not hosted externally . I am sitting at the machine so its not a slow network that is causing this.
