I have this pdf-download-problem still with version 4.3.5! Could you be so kind and share your fix with us?

I'm having the same problem on 4.3.5 as well.  What I've found as a workaround, is that if you open Adobe Acrobat Reader first, then click on the link it works...not very appealing to the user, but it seems to work 90% of the time...
