Andrew,

SQL Injection should not be an issue with DNN (itself), although it can be possible by some third party modules. Did you find out something in that direction? (Which module allowed SQL injection)?

Hi Michael, we weren't able to find any firm evidence of what happened other than both databases were trashed with missing data including entire tables.

There is someone trying to hack into the upgraded site at the moment, the event logs are full of sets of 2 failed login attempts using random, user ID's followed by an error message:

Andrew,

this looks like this bot doing spam registrations is active against your site, no problem with SQL injection so far. There are different ways to ward off this:
