I get the same problem with DNN 3.3.2/4.3.2 on SQLEXPRESS 2005

It's in Forum_SearchGetResults SP.

After I installed the source version 3.2.6 I get:

The multi-part identifier "dnn_Forum_Posts.UserID" could not be bound. ORDER BY items must appear in the select list if SELECT DISTINCT is specified. 0

Evidence suggests then there are issues with SQL Server 2005.

Scanning usenet it appears (and I could be wrong here) that SQL Server 2005 traps some SQL statements previously considered legal in SQL Server 2000. This is to remove some sort of ambiguity in ORDER BY.

That’s all I know. So I guess the forums module can be considered incompatible with SQL Server 2005 until this issue is fixed.

Cheers

Same behaviour exists in todays DNN 4.3.3 release (containing Forums 03.20.08).
Can this issue be logged somewhere?

Windows Server 2003 Standard; SQL Server 2005 Express SP1

When clicking "My Posts" in a fresh DNN 4.3.3 installation with 3 or 4 posts into Forum Module 03.20.08, I too am getting:

A critical error has occurred.
ORDER BY items must appear in the select list if SELECT DISTINCT is specified. 0

I'd like to render "My Posts" inoperative (onclick: do nothing) while a solution/workaround is found.  Any ideas for disarming "My Posts".  Admin User only, I don't know a thing about the underlying code.

If a problem can be solved, there's no use worrying about it.
If it can't be solved, worrying will do no good.

You might try making the button (assuming it is a button) invisible to the users.
visible = false in visual studio 2005, I haven't tried it yet.

Cheers
