(here is the Text/HTML Module message I am showing my demo users - just above the Forum Module - while we seek to find a solution...)

Known Issue Minimize

red-error.gif   A critical error has occurred.
ORDER BY items must appear in the select list if SELECT DISTINCT is specified. 0

If you click the "My Posts" button, you may see the above error.  It is not really a "Critical Error", but it can cause this inconvenience: you will not be able to view a list of your forum posts. We are aware of the issue and working on a solution.

If a problem can be solved, there's no use worrying about it.
If it can't be solved, worrying will do no good.

Just wondered if anyone had any luck locating a fix?

No, not here. I'm still displaying my "Known Issue" message.

For what it is worth, I just doubled checked and I found this to be true: on the same machine (Server 2003 w/ SQL Server 2005 Express SP1), I have two DotNetNuke 4.x installations:

DotNetNuke 4.3.3, Forum Module 3.20.08
"My Posts" Error (ORDER BY items must appear in the select list if SELECT DISTINCT is specified. 0)

DotNetNuke 4.0.3, Forum Module 3.20.06
"My Posts" OK

[a little later...]

(on the same machine as above) I fired-up a third DNN 4.3.3 installation, with included Forum Module 3.20.08 and confirmed the error: ORDER BY items must appear in the select list if SELECT DISTINCT is specified. 0

Then... I removed the Forum Module 3.20.08, and installed the Forum Module 3.20.06 and confirmed: "My Posts" OK - error gone.

If a problem can be solved, there's no use worrying about it.
If it can't be solved, worrying will do no good.

OK I've logged it in the public forum here: DNNP-3690

Thanks, Alex - for getting it logged.  After re-reading your earlier posts in this thread, I see how for you the error happens in either DotNetNuke 4.0.3 or 4.3.x, and with either Forum Module 3.20.06 or .08 too.  For me, I could localize the error to Forum Module 3.20.08 - but either way and both especially - it's an issue worth resolution.

For the fix, I will be happy to run any tests/trials since I now have a couple of (new/clean) DNN installations built specifically to try to localize this problem.
