Mark, I think the Register button goes away when you choose that the site is not public from the Admin pages. I'd prove that before posting, but I can't get in!

Still looking....

You're right, the Register link goes away if you turn off registration completely in the site admin pages (it doesn't have to be public registration to have the button there however).

I don't see the refresh action mentioned earlier in this thread when I go to your site.  Are you still experiencing the problem?  If so, do you get any particular error when you try to log in?

Mark, I think Register goes away when you turn off the setting that makes it a public site. That has been gone, I'm almost positive, since we made it a private site.

Yes, we are still having the problem, and here's a new clue:

The main site is Portals\0, and I have another site on Portals\1 (www.ttuckertech.com). Both have the login issue, but when I tried to logon to ttuckertech.com this morning, I get an error that (kicking my own butt) I did not write down at the time because I thought I could recreate it.

The error contained wording that a critical error occurred, that the maxrequestquerylength (or something like that) exceeded maximum length.

The error was displayed on the main page, above the Top Pane.

I hope this is a good clue.

FYI these posts arent real time so one can get a little disoriented. : )

You mentioned that the host has restarted your site and thats the only advice you can get.  When you say "restarted" that can mean a number of important things.  Also, what actions do you plan to take from this point considering you can get back in?  (migrating, upgrading etc.)  I tried logging in with garbage and I didnt even get an error or incorrect user id flag.  There is something on the backend that may have happened severely.  If you have access to the db I recommend checking the db logs of what occurred during this time.

Good point about the logs. I had not thought of that.

As far as actions, we do not need to change anything right now. If we cannot figure this out, our only option is to wipe and reinstall.  We are past our web hosts seven day window of backups.

I can get in with Query Analyzer, and can look around, but I would not know what to look for.

Thanks. Any other advice welcome.
