I'm pleased to announce that Reports Version 4.5 will be completed by the end of the month. This release provides a small set of end user fixes and multiple back-end features and bug fixes. Check out the roadmap for this release here: http://support.dotnetnuke.com/project/RoadMap.aspx?PROJID=36. A short summary of the features planned are listed below. This release will not include the Data Source framework that has been discussed and will still be tied to your current DNN DataProvider. The release after this one (5.0) will be coming before the summer (I hope, as I will be doing an internship at Microsoft during the summer and unable to work on the project) and will include the Data Source framework to allow for the use of all sorts of data sources.

Features Planned for 4.5 (see Roadmap for current status):
* "Test Query" button that allows users to see if their query will succeed, how many records it will return, and any errors that occurred.
* SQL Errors are displayed on the view page (if there are any) to SuperUsers ONLY (for security purposes). Also, the module distinguishes between a query which returns no results and a query with an error (displaying different messages in either case, unlike the current version)
* Visualizer Settings abstracted away from Module Settings: In the current version, Visualizers store their settings directly into the Module Settings (and Tab Module Settings). The new version provides Visualizers with their own storage for settings that is abstracted away from the Module Settings
* Other minor bug fixes
* Visualizer Installer system: Allows SuperUsers to upload ZIP packages containing Visualizers to install them

A short update: Reports Version 4.5 is nearly ready to enter the release process. Unfortunately it has been slightly delayed but I hope to get it into the release tracker in the next week or so.
