FCKeditor takes the default font from the active style.

If you are using the default styles, then you must change it at:

Providers\HtmlEditorProviders\Fck\FCKeditor\editor\css\fck_editorarea.css

Just change the style:

body, td
{
 font-family: Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif;
 font-size: 12px;
}

to meet your needs or delete the font style.

If you are using the dynamic .css generation, the font is taken from your DNN CSS.

We have the same problem. But I think everyone seems to be missing the actual cause.

Because we are developers we tend to set our browser default font and background to something odd say Tolkien for the font and purple for the background. This gives a quick easy way to make sure you are definiing all the fonts/backgrounds.

HOWEVER, because (as far as I can tell) FCK Editor like other richtext editors uses the Browser HTML model, when adding some text we were finding that the editor was adding our default font and background to the text. These values are coming from my LOCAL Browser settings and have nothing to do with any CSS files or server settings.

I'm not sure why sometimes it happens and sometimes not, for example on this post!!

Any thoughts Mauricio?

It would be nice to know a way round it though.

The real thing is that you are only half right. The html works as expected by using the inline styles and css style first.

The user has always (On most browsers) options to overwrite the default font and size, and the browser configuration is taken into account only if the user configures the browser to do that.

The good news are that most browsers have an option to use the website settings again.

Earlier in this thread I mentioned the lack of an end user's guide. I have written a brief one for clients to use. It also includes basic info they need to manage a DNN site. You are welcome to use it, copy out, change things to serve your needs. It has been very helpful to clients.

The guide is here.  The link text is http://www.planetmaine.net/Contact/WebDesignSupport/ManagingaPlanetMaineWebsite/tabid/162/Default.aspx

If you have comments or suggestions, please post them under this thread rather than here in this 'changing fonts' thread.

Thanks,

Will

I've changed the font size and my web.config shows static and yet I can't get the default font of the FCK Editor to change.  It's super small and the user has to select a larger font each time they use the editor.

I'm too poor for anything other than the community version
