the problem is in scheduled sync, because the sync job ofteh fails to get the portal settings and skips execution but sometimes fails lateron and delete all existing entries in files and folders table. for this reason the scheduler job will be removed in next DNN version. please be advides to disable it in your installation.

For the past few weeks I've been having a vague General Exception error fill my event log. This error occurred on every page hit my server took from any of my portals on my DNN 4.9.1 installation. It caused my server to grow increasingly unstable after a reboot to the point that every 24 hours or so it choked, starting throwing out of memory errors at site visitors (even though my dedicated server has 4GB of DDR2 RAM) and other nasty errors on every page hit and then took the server down. I started clearing the event log and rebooting my server every night to keep my clients' sites running in an effort to stay in business.

After reading Stijn's post above, I realized that I had upgraded from an earlier version of BizModule's UMG about the time this error starting occurring (about the same time that I upgraded multiple modules and this made finding the cultprit all the more difficult).

Fortunately, I didn't have any critical sites running UMG. So, I backed everything up and uninstalled UMG several hours ago and have been watching it closely and hitting it with everything I've got since and I'm happy to report that my server has stablized and this error hasn't occurred since - 3-week nightmare over!!!

I hope this issue can be resolved because I want to use UMG again (I've reported the problem on their forum too). I was running UMG 5.4.0. Here is the error that once filled my event log.

you should contact the module developer, I fear, there will be no general solution.
