I have Admin and Host rights to a single physical server that is hosting 20 or more websites on a single DNN instance.  I don't believe there are any other portal Admins with Host rights.  The server owner and his several employees have Host rights, of course.  I could arrange getting rights to log on to the server (via Remote Desktop) since the owner and I are good friends and share trust.

I don't current;y have DNN installed on my desktop, but I have in the past, so I could tinker locally if that helped.

I was thinking there might be a Report module script that could poke around for the relevant data.

I've refrained from deleting/re-installing the modules in fear that I might delete data that was intact but lost (and maybe fragile).  The owner's employees are not DNN experts (I'm probably as expert as there is, which is sad!) but they are ASP and IIS knowledgeable.  SQL knowledge is even thinner, although I can modify the odd report script to do something tailored.

So I know now more about the instance.  Where the update done with the upgrade package or with the install package ?

I'm sure the upgrade person (who has moved out of town since then) just clicked the links that show up on the Host/Module Definitions page.  The site is down right now, so I may have the page name wrong.  In any case, he would have followed the links provided on the DNN instance's Host pages.  Certainly wouldn't have done an "install", if by that you mean visiting the DNN website and downloading a new version.

So if I understand you correct, a 3rd person did the upgrade and you have no knowledge what was done.  This is not a good basic then to give support via the forum.  On the host section are only links to a download site to the extentions or the core where a upgrade is availible.  With this links are no automated upgrades are done.

Ther can be done serveral issues on the upgrade.  The easysed way is to use the upgrade package.  If the install package is used you have manuelly modified the web.config file.  If this want done or want done completely it breaks your DNN instance.

To help you I must detailed know what was done before you lost data.  I have the suspicion that the install package was used for upgrade and not all needed data from the old web.config file was transfered to the new one.

Unfortunately, that info is not available.

Can you point me to SQL tables that might contain the blog text etc. even if they're not visible on the website?  If I can grab the text, I can re-create the blogs from scratch.
