All tables started with blog and at least it must be 9 tables.  There also some procedures and other attributes.  If a objectQualifier is used the tables started like this {databaseOwner}.{objectQualifier}Blog_Blogs.

Check if the tables still exists using MS SQL Management Studio (Express edition is ok).
Check if if both SQL connection strings are set well on web.config file.
Check Maschine Key in web.config file (if you have a old copie) - it must be the same.
Check if you have a old web.config file if the dtabaseOwner and objectQualifier setting are the same with the actuell file.

Note:
If the Blog tables still there I think it could be repair.  Otherwise if you unininstall and reinstall the module you will lost all posts on the blog.

I acquired RDP credentials. There are tables named dbo.blogxxx but I haven't been able to figure out how to use the SQL Studio(2005) to examine their contents. On my SQL server, which is 2008, I have functions like "View first 1000", but this version doesn't offer any such function.  I'm sure the function is there - I just don't know how to use it!

I might just try to grab a copy of the database file and open it with a text editor.

There are view the top 1000 and edit top 200  this settings could be set in the option of the SQL Management Studio.  Open the file on a text editor didn't help you.

Some knowledge on using SQL Tools and Administrate some serevrs should be helpful.  Otherwise there are some documentations on the microsoft pages.
