@David, @Herb - We are actually just about ready to rollout a program that will provide community recognition for Wiki entries.  Expect to see more about this in the next couple of weeks.

@Joe - This is great news considering how many sites are now discussing the whole Q&A subject. For instance, there is the Active Social blog, Twitter pointing people back and forth, the Stack Overflow site, LinkedIn, Facebook, and now another new site that has just popped up too - http://www.dnnqna.com

I think this thread, all though it wasn't the intention to make this point, proves that if the community decides to go ahead with yet another site to post information on with a regard to Dotnetnuke development, skinning, etc. etc. the community would loose its momentum!

Thanks for "sneaking" this little bit of information out to us :)

I recently added something to the Wiki (it's a start at least).

However, I can't seem to assign categories (select boxes disabled) nor publish my edits.  I can make changes and they save but it appears to be stuck in draft mode.  The "Save as Draft" option is selected but also disabled.

Is there an moderator that needs to approve this first (the guildlines are vague about this process)?  If so, why did the first draft publish right away?  Perhaps it is just a settings issue?

Hello Lance, we're still working a few quirks out of the wiki at present. Drafts should not be publicly visible, they should only show to the creator and the moderators - we will work on this.

As for new wiki articles, it requires a moderator to move a draft to a published page. After that moderators are also required to approve page edits. In time we'll easily be able to identify trusted users and they will no longer require moderation, but at present we've had more spam created by users than real articles so this is necessary.

BTW your wiki entry uses html - can I ask you to not use html tags  -this wiki instance is a true wiki so you use wiki markup. Whilst it allows some html (it strips some dangerous html), by adding markup that controls appearance you complicate things e.g. when the site redesign happens we can easily change the wiki markup css and all articles will look approriate, whereas yours (at present) might not.

as for categorisation, the moderator will assign your entry to the necessary categories when they moderate it. Unfortunately in this version of the wiki, creating tags and assigning to tags are handled by the same permission - we don't at this time want to allow all users to create tags, so we're forced into this. I believe the next release will resolve this (and many other quirks)

Ok. FYI, this seemed to go up right away uncategorized and untouched.

The main reason I wanted to edit the content in fact.  I stopped when when things started looking buggy.

How might we make category suggestions to lighten the work for the moderators?
