In IIS you may simply create a new website and bind to 2nd website address.
besides, for local machine use, add website alias to system32/drivers/etc/hosts file as localhost alias, using a text editor (make sure the line is uncommented, e.g. "127.0.0.1localhostDNNDev.me")

Ignore the firefox issue. I had to set it to ignore proxy settings for localhost.

I must be missing something.

I have set up a second web site in IIS called dnndemo.me ( the first one is dnndev.me which is working fine ). It has a URL of www.dnndemo.me

A Separate App pool of iis apppool\dnndemo.me

also the security on the physical folder for iis apppoll\dnndemo.me is full control.

but when I try and launch the site i get a server not found error in I.E. or Firefox. I am missing something obvious but cannot figure out what it is.

Have you set the IUser/IUsers which are the annonymous user for IIS set up with read permissions for physical Folders?  Have you inherit the permission Setting to all subfolders and files?  Have you set the IIS Handler permissions to execute scripts and executables?

by iusers, do you mean the iis apppool\dnndemo user permissions. If so then yes. I have already set up one site successfully, however getting another one to run on my local machine results in server not found.

I am at a loss as to why one site works but the other which has been set up in the same way, using chris hammonds tutorial does not work.
