I have an extremely overstuffed portal in 3.1.0 and I'd like to rebuild it afresh in 4.7 rather than hazard an upgrade. I'll need to keep the user profiles and security groups, however, and I'm not certain how best to go about migrating them into the new database. Does anyone know of a reference that will help me to plan which tables I'll need, which things I won't, and what other settings I have to worry about (for example, the encryption key in webconfig)? I've found several options for moving users between portals with the same host, but not from one database to another, so guidance would be appreciated.

Hi  I was alos looking for a quick answer to this question, how to move users. Now I have DNN 3 and going to makу upgrade to dnn4 and Iam quite scared that when I cange the database to MSSQL2005 I will loose all he users I had on my portal, how to make sure I save them all somwhere? what is the way to preserve user data in case of moving to another host?
