I noticed they added an "auto-merge" feature to the upgrading package. I can't seem to find any documentation on how to install the new upgrade package and the search is giving me time out errors... Could anyone provide me with an updated Upgrade package install instructions?

Upgrade should be fairly easy:

  • backup site and database
  • unzip upgrade package hierarchically into DNN installation directory, overwriting exisiting files
  • browse to your site (if you set "autoupgrade" to false in web.config, browse to /install/install.aspx?mode=upgrade

Awesome. Pretty much like last time. I though there have been done a change on the upgrading process. Is there an area on the downloading section where I can read this rather than posting for it? I though i would find it with the Installation instructions. I know its a common procedure but I always like to confirm it has not changed. Thanks.

I apologize, unfortunately the DNN Documentation project is still working out, how to provide a documentation area on DotNetNuke.com.

Hmmm after overwritting all the files, I am getting a Server Unavailable error (Server Application Unavailable) . Do i need to rename the release.config to web.config for the upgrading process? Like rename, run upgrade, then write original web.config setting into release/renamed webconfig file? I tried restarting the website and service with not luck.
