I'm trying to install a second instalation of DNN 05.04.02 on Windows Server 2008. I get an error while trying to connect to the SQLexpress database. I choose the typical installation option, just as I did with the fist instalation (actually everything is identical to the first instalation except the instalation directory, note that the first instalation works.)

This is the error I get, note how there is no error message:
Connection Error(s)
Index #: 0
Source: .Net SqlClient Data Provider
Class: 14
Number: 15350
Message:

And these are the connection settings:
Select Database: SQL Server 2005/2008 (Express) File
Server: .\SQLExpress
Filename: Database.mdf
Intergrated security: true
Run as db owner: true
Object Qualifier:

Note that these are the default settings. I'm also sure that this is not a file permission issue as the permissions are excactly the same as the first installation (except on the irectory for the second instalation ofcourse).

Could anyone provide insight in why the database connection is failing?

I'm getting the exact same thing.  The message is blank.  I'm installing on Windows 2003/SQL 2005 server. Just can't figure it out!

Mine happened to be a cisco firewall issue was blocking the remote session. It wasn't until I back leveled to 5.1.4 and tried the install again that I was able to see and troubleshoot the actual error.

Tank you very much, version 5.1.4 indeed does give me an error message:

An attempt to attach an auto-named database for file D:\DNN514\App_Data\Database.mdf failed. A database with the same name exists, or specified file cannot be opened, or it is located on UNC share.

Now it's the message I don't understand, it says there already is a database with that name. Which could seem correct since I have another SQLExpress DNN running on my server, hoewever that is in a different database file (D:\DNN\App_Data\Database.mdf). How would I go around fixing this?
I know it's not the "or can't be opened" part since the file is really there and the error is still there even if i give Everyone permission on the file.
