I have a website developed using ASP.NET and hosted on the main domain, say "www.abc123.org"

I installed DNN on a sub-domain, events.abc123.org.

There are 2 web.config files - one for the main domain  under "/" and the other under /events folder ( which is used by DNN) that seems to conflict with each other.

DNN seems to only work if I remove "web.config" file under the ROOT. Removing the web.config from the root breaks the main website.

Any help to resolve this issue is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

you should install DotNetNuke in the root of its web site, not in a subfolder. if there is already another (non-DNN) web site www.abc123.org, add a new one for DNN and don't install it as an application in a subfolder. Within a DNN installation, you may have as many domains as you like.

addded <location path="." inheritInChildApplications="false"> around <system.webserver> section in the root web.config and that fixed it

both root sites and dnn site in the subfolder  are working now.

Thanks
