As previously stated as per the instruction in your other thread, I added ASPNwet and Network service users to root directory of website. Gave the rights Read and Execute to ASPNet, and Modify to Network service. I also added Network service to dotnetnuke db as db_owner. I am getting the same error, "Domain Name Windows XP Does Not Exist In The Database" So I went back and gave them full Control. Still the same error. I have spent 7 hours trying to install this application which I downloaded in hopes of building a website quickly. I could have build three websites using plain ASP.Net in that time. Why is this so difficult?

I think you have added the wrong virtual path to the IIS.  If you running XP you have no DNS server, and it could not run different domain names.  On XP you have to add a virtual path i.e. DotNetNuke to the base site.  This is than availible calling localhost/DotNetNuke on your browser.

On ASP.NET settings you have gave execute and read permissions.  The physical files and folders needed read permissions for the IUser.  Set Full permissions for the networkservice(if it is the application user!) and ASP.NET user, it could be a WP_user is used for the application pool (please check this).

Set both SQL strings on the Web.Config file.

If you tried a failed Install you have to delete the database and re-create it.  Extract also all files without the web.config (or set them after extration) into the DotNetNuke folder.

If you don't come forward with this description, please feel free to leave your e-mail or MSN contact.

Hello folks; I have been trying to install dotnetnuke for about four weeks now. I am trying to build a website for a volunteer organization that I am a member of on my own time. I promised them it would be quick and easy using dot Net Nuke. Instead it has been four weeks involving dozens of hours of effort and still have not gotten the basic application installed as yet. They are now laughing at my claims of how easyDot Net Nuke would be and preparing to have someone else do the site in WordPress.

In respect I think it's some missunderstanding on configration on IIS and/or SQL server.  Basicly DNN is easy to install, if no special SQL Server Configuration is needed.

Some more information posting in this Forum i.e error logs shall help us to solve your issue, and make your understanding the configuration.  To this we also need information of the version and the package you are, also about the SQL Server you used and if you used the file based connection or the real SQL Server connection.  We must also need to know the IIS version you are using.  IIS7 have do modes to install, this needs then different phsical permissions for the DNN Folders.

Using the wizard to install, or do you manually modily the web.config file and run auto install?
