I've been viewing this thread for a few weeks now everyday and being used to ASP.Net forums and experts exchange, today is the first time I realized that there are there were multiple pages in this thread and that people had been answering me all along. (My apologies. I feel so stupid.) So I will attempt the other fixes suggested before commenting further. Question. What is the advisability of uninstalling everything and starting all over from scratch? Do you think that would be easier or harder? (P.S. I am getting this Javascript error when trying to submit this reply

I don't know if that is relevant to the above errors reported.

I deleted the virtual folder in IIS. I deleted the database in SQL Server (eventually), I deleted the physical folder under IIS. I gave aspnet and Network Service accounts full control of wwwroot and all sub folders. Then I went back to download page and started over. This time everything went well untill I entered the wrong password for sa. So I had to do everything over again this time I made the mistake of unchecking run as dbowner. This crashed as well. So I deleted everything againg and started over. This time everything ran until it asked me for the email address on the SMPT test page. This kept failing as it was saying that SMPT could not relay mail to the email address. Finally I went into SMPT virtual server relay settings and check all except list below, and that finally allowed the iinstal to complete. thank you for your help everyone.

So it looks it was a configuration issue.

Due to the dbOwner is unchecked DNN want install the database using the datatabase userID as the schema.  This is a special SQL Server configuration that could caused some issues also on not well formed Sql scripts on modules.  But this configuration for the SQL-Server is often used on Hosting that used Plesk as its hosting management!
