I am getting a 500 server error. I added this line to my web config file with no luck
<configuration>
	<system.web>
	<customErrors mode="Off"/>
	</system.web>
</configuration>
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Since the Http 500 error is not an ASP.Net unhandled application error, I don't believe that setting customErrors mode="Off" will have any effect.

You might try turning off "Show Friendly HTTP Error Messages" in your browser settings. In IE8 it is under Tools -->Internet Options-->Advanced.

My guess is that it is either a server timeout or re-direction loop but could be almost anything.

Otherwise, you will need to obtain and look through your server logs - not sure if GoDaddy provides access to those in control panel or via FTP or if you have to contact their support.

Trying that now. I was using Chrome to access the site but i don't see anywhere to adjust the error messages in the settings. Could be a Go Daddy issue with 5.5? Not sure. Maybe all of the files did not upload correctly. Could that cause the error? I will have to try again when I get home tonigh. If anyone else has any suggestions please fire away. Thanks, Don

Ok, I got it to run the install. Everything completed successfully and I clicked to go to site and start building and I get a 404 error. It is redirecting me to the /install directory but all I get is 404 not found. Any ideas? BTW, turning off custom error reporting solved my issue but I found in another tutorial that it is not what was listed on the 500 server error page. I had to find the listing for <customEroors="Remote only"/> and replace that with "Off".

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks,
Don
