Thanks for the suggestions, I will follow that upgrade path from the wiki. I hadn't found that while searching. I wish I could just start over, but unfortunately there are 6+ years worth of news updates and other company information in the database, not to mention all the user accounts. Just one more question, with some of those versions listed in the wiki, the only download was the source code, no install/upgrade version. What will I need to install the source code? Is it as simple as unzipping the file and having it ready to go? Do I need to compile the source into something usable? Thanks again.

hmm, didn't know that - there are likely some of the missing packages at http://sourceforge.net/projects/dnn/files/ , but in general all you have to do with a source package is load it in visual studio (most of the missing ones require vs.net 2003) and build the solution and then deploy the contents of the folder (minus the web.config obviously)

Jesse:

Why do you want to use the source version of DNN?  There is really no need for you to use the source version for a production site, save yourself the headache and use the "Install Package".  The Install package is precompiled and ready to run, you don't need to deal with extra compilation, Visual Studio issues.  By the way, get it from the Download page after you login, the Wiki is not the official downloads page.

And then, depending on the final approach you take for your upgrade, if you are doing a real DNN upgrade on top of a previous version, then you use the "Upgrade Package", which on the later versions do not overwrite your Web.config file but will merge any new settings that may be necessary.

I don't want to install from the source code, but for some of the versions that the wiki recommends stepping through, the source is the only version i see on the page. If the install versions are available i would much rather use them. I also do not have Visual Studio to be able to compile and build a working install version.

Seriously Jesse, start from a fresh install (install version). You can always re-import users back in using some third party tools and use SQL to import the news into another module. T

But if you can get the upgrade to work, you probably should get a plaque for the largest successful upgrade jump.
