My site is up and running. However I want to verify configuration of IIS 7 folder permissions for DNN 5. The DefaultAppPool has permissions for the web folders and that seems to work now. But now a MYSITE app pool has been created and if IIS7 did this on its own how can I now give that app pool access to the files, instead of the DefaultAppPool. As I add more sites to the server is the creation of the app pools always after the site is up and running?

I've tried different entries into the IIS folder permissions for the MYSITE app pool, nothing seems to work. Can you give an example of what to type into that box, so when you click the Check Names button it works.

The documentation shows this, but it doese not appear to be the actual naming convention in IIS 7...

Windows 7/2008r2 - 7.5 IIS

APPPOOL\WEBSITENAME

My test site is currently working with: SYSTEM & DefaultAppPool

Do anymore steps even need to be made? We would like the sites to be as secure and correctly configured as possible.

In the app pool configuration for the new one that was created, you will see an "App Pool Identity".

What you will want to do is validate what that identity is, then you can right click on the DNN folder and select "Sharing & Security", and change the permissions for that folder to allow that account full access.

If my installation only has an i.p assigned so far, documentation states to add the permission in the DOMAIN\APPPOOL NAME format

nothing I've tried is working with this naming structure.

I also get a error of insufficient permissions when trying to restart the application in DNN > Host settings.

Was it intended when setting up the site in IIS 7 initially, that we were to manually create the app pool for the site before installation? And then assign it the required permissions?

Just to clarify, are you using IIS 7 or IIS 7.5. There is a difference in assigning AppPool permissions.
