I have followed every guide out there and I attached the .mdf on my other server, I detached it and moved everything to the new server.  Site works fine using the mdf file, but if I attach to a database with the correct string, the site goes under construction.

How else can I get this attached and working??

Any help would be appreciated!!

Thanks!

Although this blog post from Shawn Mehaffie is about 5 years old, it explains the issue and how to fix it quite well:

Thanks so much... I found the problem and had I checked it earlier, I wouldn't have had to post or spent 5 hours attaching and detaching LOL.  It was in the SQL Server Configuration... I had it for Windows Login only... duh...

Thanks for the reply though!

Having SQL Server set for Windows authentication only rather than mixed mode which also allows SQL Authentication would definitely cause the problem. I'm glad you got it sorted out!
