Hello;

I pasted all the files of DNN 6 on rootwww.dotnetnuke folder.
And I set up web server, db and file permission.
Even setup sql 2008 and restarted it.

But my first call of browsing for http://localhost/dotnetnuke bring following erro.

Line 99: </system.webServer>
Line 100: <system.web>
Line 101: <machineKey validationKey="F9D1A2D3E1D3E2F7B3D9F90FF3965ABDAC304902" decryptionKey="F9D1A2D3E1D3E2F7B3D9F90FF3965ABDAC304902F8D923AC" decryption="3DES" validation="SHA1" /> Line 102: <!-- HttpModules for Common Functionality -->
Line 103: <httpModules>

As a new comer, I could not figure it out what went wrong.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Was there more to the application error other than the lines you posted?

Not much to go on without the error message but please check that:

1. ASP.Net v 3.5 SP 1 and/or ASP.Net v 4.0 has been installed and properly registered on the server.

2. You have added the site alias as a new application (not a virtual folder) in IIS and have assigned an application pool running ASP.Net v 3.5 SP1 or ASP.Net v 4.0 to the application's basic settings.

BTW, what version of IIS is installed?

ASP.Net 4.5 is a beta for upcoming IIS 8 and VS 2012, DNN has not tested yet. I strongly suggest running your site in an app Pool running on either .Net 3.5 SP1 (aka 3.5.1, showing up in app pool selection as ASP.net 2.0) or ASP.Net 4.0´.
