unbelievable, since weeks this error is reported, I installed 7.1.1 with blank page and get this 404 error!
thats failed dear dnn-team. i loose an hour to find the work-around and redo to work ...

with the standard template i could install and start the page, but now a bunge of 404 cannot access the host and admin sites. i've no time for that i'm really ...

I just did a default install of 7.1.1. I have no problem accessing the host settings and admin settings. Win7/SqlExpress2008R2.

Tell us more clearly what you did, what happened, and how that was different to what you expected. We may be able to help.

you may try to change the urlFormat in the web.config from advanced to humanFriendly.

it worked for me. thanks to Rob Watkins for the solution.

Fresh cloud install - 7.01/ Server 2008 / SQL 2012

I have to say this is ridiculous - the other day I was filling out your survey and trying hard to think why I stay with DNN as opposed to other platforms.

The DNN is around for so long - couple years of hype about version 6, then 7 and you give people a fresh install that calls for a folder that does not exist. Then you give newbies solutions like change admin settings when they can't login because of the stupid pop-up that keeps coming back when you close it. 

I hope someone get fired for this.
