You're going to need to post more information about what your problem is.

If you have Exchange setup and an SMTP service running then you'll need to put that service information into DNN's host settings to get email to work.

Will,
Assuming your exchange box is on another server, you would also have to make sure that you setup Exchange to allow mail relay for the IP address of the site you've setup for DNN. I believe there is an exchange setting which allows you to specify from which ip addresses to allow mail relay.
Once you've setup that up and setup the exchange's SMTP information in host settings, you should be able to send/receive a test email which would indicate that everythingi s working...

Ok here is some info, I have the exchange server and DNN install on the same server. The exchange server is working, Iam able to recieve and send email with it using outlook or outlook anywhere(webmail).  I know to put the info in the host setting but it gives me this error if I try NTLM or basic
"Syntax error, command unrecognized. The server response was: 5.7.3 Authentication unsuccessful " and if  I use Anonymous "Mailbox unavailable. The server response was: 5.7.1 Client does not have permissions to send as this sender ". I have tried to set up a new recieve connector, but no luck. I have run the command to allow anonymous for the new connector thru the shell, but this still didnt work. I have used localhost and mysmtp.domain.com in DNN. Is it something iam suppose to do in exchange or AD? How about editing the webconfig file?

Sanjay I was posting about the same time you were replying. The exchange server and DNN install is on the same box. I have set up a new recieve connector, but no luck. The wierd thing is there is a tab missing in the properties of the recieve connector. I only have 3 tabs, I have seen screen shots of the properties having 4 tabs.
