I'm hoping this is easy.   I created a "Reader" user that will only have view access to the site.    However, when this user clicks on any tab except the home page, the View/Edit radio buttons are appearing.  I checked to make sure only Administrators could "Edit Page" for those tabs (under Admin -> Tabs, editted that page, verified Edit Page).    I also made sure that the "Reader" did not belong to the Administrator role.

Is there something I'm missing?

I'd check all pages and modules to ensure that you haven't granted the role edit rights somewhere, and if that all looks fine, go to Admin, Site Settings, Advanced Settings, Usability Settings and set Control Panel security to Page Editors.

I noticed that this DNN site have a role called "Graphics".  Somehow this role has access to files on the system to view and modify.  When I removed this role from the "Reader" user then the View/Edit went away.  When I looked in the database in a table called "FolderPermissions" there are several folders that are protected.  Any idea how the Graphics role could be assigned to folders/files?

Did you do the other bits I mentioned?

Regarding the Graphics role.. a role can be granted read and/or write permissions on portal folders by using the permissions grid on the Admin, File Manager page. However, I don't believe that having rights to DNN folders has any affect on the view/edit buttons, so you must make sure that that role hasn't been assigned edit rights to some other component first. The fact that the Reader loses the buttons when you remove that role is obviously a clue.

Great, your last post explained everything.  Thanks Rob.  I checked the ModulePermission table in the database and it gave me a clue as to where I could find the edit permissions for "Graphics".  So then I checked the settings for that module and "Graphics" did have Edit permissions.  The FileManager explanation also helped me understand how this role could edit files in those folders.
