I see that Active Modules and Ventrian have  personal Private Messaging modules. Does anyone have a recommendation as to which PM is their personal best choice?

If God does not live in Colorado, I bet he visits there a lot!!

Ventrian PM is a good module. No experience with the other one.

Both are first rate, but the aren't competitors.

ActiveForums is a forum module, and competes with the DotNetNuke forums that we are using right here.

Ventrian PM is for sending private messages (that's the PM part) from one person to another.

And, it's easy to get them to play nice together.  ActiveModules also has a messaging utility that goes with ActiveForums.

And, if you're interested in ActiveForums, there is a new version (and a new generation) -- Version 4.0 -- due to drop momentarily.  It should be quite a step forward for DotNetNuke forum modules.

Active just purchased the private message module (as well as MyProfile module) from DNNFusion.

So until Will gets the time to "Activeize" it I would say that Ventrian is the better bet.  As Joe said either will work with Active Forums and MyProfile.  However, I think there are other third party modules that also work with Ventrian but not Active's PM module - I know Smart-Thinkers modules will work with Ventrian.

I personally use Ventrians PM module, but I have not done anything to test PM functionalites provided by Active Modules.
