Hi Guys/Girls/Other!
I have a pesky old phpNuke site that I need to migrate into DNN.
I've dumped the MySQL database and imported it into my SQL-Server 2005(oldphpnukedb).
Then I installed DotNetNuke (4.9.0).

So, the basic outline here:
I have phpNuke migrated to SQL Server 2005 and an DNN installation, what I'd love to
be able is to migrate the 6-700 users already present in the phpNuke database to the
DotNetNuke database.

Is this achievable?? I've been rummaging around in the databases and I haven't found out where the passwords are stored in DNN for example.

Best Regards
Johannes

You will never regret migrating to DNN! I've migrated a few from PHP Nuke and PostNuke and am now a sworn die hard DNN-er!

Migrating users is not a problem, just get the user info from your old database, however, I've found it much easier to simply bite the bullet and generate a new password for users. I highly recommmend the DNN Masters module Membership Management Suite Pro, it allows you to create an Excel spreadsheet with your user information and import that into DNN. Aside from the UIM module, their module gives you a sophisticated user management tool. Hopefully a similar interface will evolve in the DNN core!

Btw, passwords are encrypted in aspnet_membership.password field.

Welcome to DNN!

John Mitchell (snapsis.com) has a nice little tool that you can use to import users from an XML file.

If you can get your user data into a spreadsheet, you can save it easily into an appropriate XML file.
