hi, I want to setup two portals: English and French site.

How to set it up? http://xxx/Englsh and (Http://xxx/French or http://xxx/Englsh/French)

Can they share the one database only?  If I need two database, the member register will run into problem? Please help. Thanks.

You can run the two portals from one DB.  You can also use third party products such as the Passthrough module from the guys from inventua.com - it's a great product.

The general decision should be having one or two portals - one, supporting multiple languages or multiple portals for a single lanuguage each. The decision depends on the content - if it is similar for all languages, I would use a single ML portal (like DeutschNetNuke). For an ML portal you will need 3rd party modules, e.g. from Apollo Software or from Locopon's.
