I would like to change the dnn:User skin object to be dependent on what portal you were in.

e.g. if you are in portal 0 I want the displayname to be the user's username but if they are in portal 1, I want their displayname to be their first and last names. Is there an easy way to accomplish this?

I'm using Dynamic Registration and have both portals DNN core properties set but they don't seem to change until you update your registration.

Any ideas?

Thanks

The skin object uses the stored value in the database for the field, you would have to create a custom skin object if you want this to be a dynamic configuration item.

Thanks Mitchell, I was able to find an example of what I was looking for and modified it to fit my needs.

Acutally, you do have a tiny bit of control.  You can define the DisplayName to be [FirstName] [LastName] or other tokens.  You can do this on a portal by portal basis.

I had those settings changed to what I wanted them to be in each portal but they didn't seem to take effect until you updated your account once. I'm using Dynamic Registration so I don't know if that's a function of that particular module or not.

What I did was just modify the user control that controls the user skin object of my skin and I got the desired results I was looking for.
