Hi all

I need to place the Google Analytics tracking code directly before the </head> tag. I understand DNN has a GA module that can inject the code into all pages on the site, however:

1. I will be using subdomain tracking and thus need to use a different GA code snippet to the one DNN generates

2. I have been asked to insert the code directly before the </head> tag.

Any ideas how I can do this?

I've heard it can be done by altering the default.aspx file, however every time we upgrade we would have to re-insert the code into this file, and also it would mean that GA would track ALL page views of the site, including Administrators making changes to the site, so it would skew the figures.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

You can do this to individual pages by editing each pages 'Page Settings', under "Advanced Settings" you will find a field called 'Page Header Tags '. Simply enter your META tag and update the page.

No, I don't think you would have to re-insert the code after every upgrade.

1. create a new text/html module
2. add code to settings >> advanced settings (the header)
and change visibility to none

3. apply to all pages (display on all pages)
and you will track all pages on your site.

Thanks guys, much appreciated.

@Mark - this sounds good, although if I 'apply to all pages' would this not apply it to the pages under the Admin menu as well, thus tracking page views and time on the site by Administrators?

isnt there a section in the analytics module that lets you put your own custom code?
