Hi Everyone,

After deploying my DNN application onto the test server all my ajax calls are now breaking redirecting me to the incorrect internal alias. I've fixed various other issues along the way but  this one is driving me crazy. Logging-in incorrectly I do not get any error messages displayed although the ajax call request was made. If I do login to the portal with the right credentials I am redirected to the incorrect alias which is pointing to the internal server. Please note that the tabs URL is fine.

Not sure why portal alias is resolving differently with the ajax calls and page requests?

Is there a configuration that maybe missing? Existing applications on the server which are non-DNN based do not have this problem.

I am using DNN 7.2 CE with IIS 7 and SQL 2008. Rules for the host headers also placed on the TMG and ISA servers. The same application works locally.

Any help or direction would be much appreciated.

When doing a little more investigation I get the following error in the browser, nothing else is logged in the database:

Sys.Webforms.PageRequestManagerParser...

I turned off debugging, tracing. Some say to change compression settings to "no compression" or to turn off partial rendering but these don't seem to be settings in DNN7.

What I'm worried about is that this is a remaining issue carried across from previous versions.

DNN 7.2 is a beta version - do you mean 7.1.2?

Make sure your default alias is set to the correct address in the Portal Settings -> Alias Settings area - there are a number of potential cross posting and secure validation issues that require Default Alias to be set correctly.

Im suspecting that the default alias is possibly set to no value.

But i must ask - exactly what you mean by deploying my DNN application - is this a custom build from source for example

Hi Wes thanks for your help again.

You're right Im using Dnn 7.1.2 and the application is just dnn, I said my dnn as in my instance.

With the portal alias im pretty sure its the right one. Can only be two alias' either the internal server alias or the actual domain name. The default/primary alias is the internal alias. If I set the alias with the domain name I just get 404 errors. Otherwise if I set the primary as the internal server everything works apart from the ajax calls.

The internal alias i mean is the host header I.e. domainname.dev.idc:1315

Hope that helps

There is something in the back of my mind relating to issues with dnn ajax calls on non-standard ports -- from the look of your links you have the internal system trying to use port 1315.

FWIW I would avoid any scenario where a non standard port is being used - and in this day and age there is really no good reason to do so - for consistency - always worth with a standard IIS server for testing and use the standard port.
