I am bumping into an error on a few different DNN instances when trying to upgrade from 8.0.3 to 8.0.4.  I did get a site to upgrade so I assume it's instance specific but after seeing it on different servers, comparing diff's on web.config's between working and non working sites,  I am still looking for some insight.  Once I unzip the latest install I get the following:

[NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.]
   DotNetNuke.Web.Mvc.MvcHttpModule.SuppressXFrameOptionsHeaderIfPresentInConfig() +248
   DotNetNuke.Web.Mvc.MvcHttpModule.Init(HttpApplication context) +12
   System.Web.HttpApplication.RegisterEventSubscriptionsWithIIS(IntPtr appContext, HttpContext context, MethodInfo[] handlers) +534
   System.Web.HttpApplication.InitSpecial(HttpApplicationState state, MethodInfo[] handlers, IntPtr appContext, HttpContext context) +172
   System.Web.HttpApplicationFactory.GetSpecialApplicationInstance(IntPtr appContext, HttpContext context) +339
   System.Web.Hosting.PipelineRuntime.InitializeApplication(IntPtr appContext) +296

[HttpException (0x80004005): Object reference not set to an instance of an object.]
   System.Web.HttpRuntime.FirstRequestInit(HttpContext context) +9928616
   System.Web.HttpRuntime.EnsureFirstRequestInit(HttpContext context) +90
   System.Web.HttpRuntime.ProcessRequestNotificationPrivate(IIS7WorkerRequest wr, HttpContext context) +261

Version Information: Microsoft .NET Framework Version:4.0.30319; ASP.NET Version:4.6.1069.1

In each situation I am forced to restore to 8.0.3

Not sure why but the DotNetNuke.Web.Mvc.dll Version 8.0.4.226 was causing the error.

I rolled back just that .dll to version 8.0.3.5 and the upgrade went through.

I can only confirm that this hack works for me, too.
Yet the Upgrade Wizard stays put at 0% all the time during the process.

PS. This thread is almost 2 weeks old now and nothing changed as to the corrected upgrade version available.
In Wordpress it would be done within 5 hours.
