I've some problems with my current module. It's a sort of database based calculator and which should allow unlogged user to have limitted functionality (they can do some add, delete, updates but the edit and settings page). The module shows a very strange behavior:

  • When i logged on, everything works as expected without errors (I change a value in a textbox - click an update button - executes the "onclick" function (checked via breakpoint) - updates the data and refreshes the datalist)
  • When i'm unlogged, any actions are executed (the events aren't  dispatched?)

I presume it must be a security problem of my module.

Please can you help me with my problem.

Actually it sounds like a caching problem...

Check 2 thinigs:

- Module settings - Cache setting (if it's greater than 0, content is probably cached and thus the events are not called, the server processing does not occur)
- Module Definition configuration - Also the Cache setting (when you create a new instance of a module, it's given a cache value from the module definition)

Thanks Vladan,

it's solved - it was the cache settings. Do you know if there is more technical information over dnn caching?

best wishes

Np,

I must admit I haven't seen any specific details on module caching. What do you want to know? I know how it works so I can maybe answer some of your questions.

I'm very interested in the passage when the "cache engine" decides what and when stores or refeshes the content. The final question / answer would be: can i fine tune my developed modules in regard to cache or must i take the properties are provided from the  Host -> Host Settings and Host -> Module Definitions.
