Hi Guys
Question just been using the webmaster tools at google, and I want to submit the sitemap ane robot .txt file, I have uploaded both but google reports a 404 error, where do i place these files, at present have placed them in both protal number and the name of the portal in the root, which one is right, because google can't find them and they are not showing when browsing

any suggestions welcom

Just a suggestion, but there's a DNN module that automatically generates a google sitemap for your site...and it's free! It works really well and has step by step instructions on installation. Sorry, but I'm not familiar with your issue described above...I've always been using this DNN module for sitemap stuff.

The robots.txt file needs to be in your domains root folder.

If you don't use the sitemaps module that was reference above, which by the way does work very well.   You need to be sure to provide google the full path to the sitemap you uploaded.

For example if you put the map in portals/0/ You must give google, http://www.<yoursite>.com/Portals/0/<yourfile> so that they can find it.

The robots.txt file must be in the domain root, or the portal root so it is accessible directly.

Tried other sitemap software, it did the job but google couldn't find it
followed suggestions used the bite the bullet google sitemap, it just worked
