I had a question about whether the way role groups in DNN works correctly. I don't see a way to assign a permission to more than one role group. Is this correct?

This doesn't seem to be correct because say for example I have a role of edit and I have a couple role groups such as admin, editor, viewer. In this scenario I would want the edit permission to be included with both the editor and admin role group. Can this be done? I don't see a way to do this.

Any ideas?

Role Groups, and Roles are different. Role Groups are just a way to "organize" roles. You can assign edit rights to any of the various roles in your site, no matter what group they are a part of. If they are in different groups just choose the role group from the drop down, check the appropriate box, and selected the next group from the dropdown and check the box you want to set.

That should work, last I tried at least :D

I did see that that is how it works since I looked in the database and saw that they are just a grouping but I was just wondering if this was by design. It seems pointless since all it does it group them. I would like to use it to group multiple roles together so that I can assign at once to a user using the role groups. Maybe a change for a future version?

I believe the grouping was added to allow you to filter groups down. There are sites with hundreds of roles, and loading all of those for every page when someone tries to edit a module or a page can slow things down a bit.
