How do we speed up our site (www.northstarcamaroclub.net) it seems to be unbearably slow.  I am sure we are not optimized in any way (since I have no idea what I am doing!)

Nope, loaded fine for me.  It may taken a little long to actually fireup but once it did the rest of the page loaded very quickly.

I thik this is an asp.net thing where the application basically turns of if there has been no visitors.  When a new visitor accesses the site it takes a while to go through all the startup tasks.  Or somthing like that.  If sites are reasonably busy then this deosnt happen as the site has already been started.

There are services called "Keep alive", which somepeople use.  These send a request to the site every so often to ensure the service remains online

If you have a keep alive service pinging your site I would make sure that they are doing that every 15 minutes or so as that will help on the first load.

You can also work with your performance settings to get an overall good mix of performance.  Also, ensure that you do not have any extra schedule items running.

I will start playing with any settings I find and see what happens.  Hoepfully, I don't break anything!  Any suggestions on setting the cache methods and whatnot under the host settings screen?  I will check with my keep alive service also, since there do not appear to be any calls from them in the event viewer...

Added PageBlaster, not seeing any improvement.

Did a quick speed test on my internet connection, 1.6Mb Down, 275kB Up.  Did a scan on website response time, gettting 3.14 seconds at DSL speed.  That is slower than USPS.com!!!!  Am I just dreaming about a fast site with DNN, or do I need to configure a few things differently?  Have noted that this site (dotnetnuke.com) is also pretty slow...
