Today I have been assisting a forum poster migrate his DNN 4.8.0 site from WH4L to my local development server, upgrade it to DNN 5.5.0, and finally move the upgraded site to GoDaddy (his choice, having already signed up for grid/economy hosting). Although the local upgrade was done without issues, I am, as expected, finding migration of the datbase to GoDaddy very difficult as they do not allow restore of a database backup not created on GoDaddy servers. Using their alternative approach, Database Publishing Wizard/Database Publishing Server has been most trying. After many failed attempts connecting to their webservice, I finally succeded but the actual transfer fails each time after several hours of churning away. I also see that the database user account that has been created by GoDaddy's SQL control panel does not have db_owner roles and only limited permissions.

So, I am going to advise that he seek another hosting provider. Although I typically use SeekDotNet.com or Appliedi.net for most of my sites, I have looked recently at DNN4Less and am hoping that several DNN4Less users could provide "unbiased" reviews, particularly concerning their performance, ease of setting folder permissions, and ability to restore a local SQL Server 2008 database to DNN4Less SQL servers.

William, how about 3essentials.com I have a long experience with them (I recommend my clients to host with them) and they never failed me, even when I had real troubles with some complex installations and moving/upgrading client's sites. Also, their support is one of the best.

I am shocked, all of the dnn4less reviews including mine have been deleted from this thread.

@Administrator, what is going on? I see dnn4less is the sponsor of DotNetNuke Website and it seems like someone is keep deleting all good feedback about them, my posts count shows 13 and I can only see 9 in "My Posts", obviously other 4 posts about dnn4less have been deleted by someone.

Am i missing something?

I have migrated one site to 3Essentials, based on an [old] Mitch Sellers recommendation and using his flawless procedure.  If Mitch no longer has it posted, I could dig it up.  3E was great to work with.

Never tried going to GoDaddy.  I'll tuck your input away...   :)

I have been using DNN4Less since a year ago and the exprecience was really great for me. However I am using the Virtual server service. I never tried their shared hosting services.

The virtual server has 15 DNN instances running and it was equivalent in price to having a shared hosting for each instance...but...I have full control of the server.
