Hi Bill,

There was no "IUSR" account, only "IIS_IUSR". I have added an account called "IUSR" and assigned it full permissions but to no avail.

When I was updating the permissions on the "c:/intetpub/wwroot/dnndev" folder I got an error message saying that it couldn't update the permissions on "c:/intetpub/wwroot/dnndev/aspnet_client" because "Access was denied". I clicked ok and it carried on updating the rest of the "dnndev" permissions.

I have tried adding the web.config as suggested to the module folder but that has also not helped.

Any other idea's? I am considering having to re-install IIS and DNN but having already done that once I'm not sure it will help.

Thanks,
Donovan

Hi Bill,

There was no "IUSR" account only an "IIS_IUSR" account so I added the "IUSR" account and assigned it full control permissions. This didn't help and neither did adding the web.config file to the module folder.

When updating the permissions for "IUSR" I got an error which claimed that it couldn't update the permissions for "c:/inetpub/wwwroot/dnndev/aspnet_client" because "Access Denied"... does that shed any light on what may be wrong?

I have already tried uninstalling and re-installing both IIS and DNN and that hasn't helped. I'm not sure what else to try; any ideas?

Thanks,
Donovan

oh... that's interesting... when I first submitted my reply via the "quick reply" it never appeared, but after using the "reply" I see both are visible.

Sorry for the double post!

Sorry for the double post!

This is because your first submission went to a new page - thanks to AJAX, the page numbers are not updated (only ofter a full postback) and your posting seems to be invisible. When you refresh the page, you'll get the new page number, can move to that and see your posting.

Best wishes
Michael

(Propably someone should report this on Gemini...)

Donovan,

back to your real problem:

When you use IIS 7.5 (Windows Server 2008 R2), the user who runs the AppPool needs Modify permissions to the file system and approbriate permissions to the database. This user is called something like "IIS AppPool\AppPoolName" (where AppPoolName is the name of the application pool, e.g. DefaultAppPool, ASP.Net v4.0, DNNAppPool etc.)

In the IIS management console, you have to go to Authentication, and edit Anonymous Authentication (which has to be activated). Instead of Specific User choose the Application Pool Identity.

Best wishes
Michael
