I downloaded the DNN 8 CPT install package tonight to take it for a test drive.

First:  It won't install because there is an error in the 08.00.00.SqlDataProvider script.  But, it's easy to fix.  Before running the installer, edit the script (it's in the Providers, DataProviders, SqlDataProviders folder and make this replacement:

[nvarchar(1000)]   --> [nvarchar](1000)

Just move the trailing square bracket to the left to enclose only "nvarchar" in brackets.

Did someone really test the installer?

Second:  And this is my real question ... after installing, what should I do?

I found that there is an uninstalled HTML module labelled 8, but seems to have an older description than the one that's installed.

I found the Dynamic Content Creator module.  Yes, I can drop it onto a page, but what can I do with it?

The release notes say that there are new replaceable tokens for the HTML module, but I can't find a description anywhere.

I can report, though, that after making that change to the Sql script, I can install DNN 8 CPT 2.  Just don't know how I can really explore it and test it.  Maybe Charles' blogs will begin to make sense to me at some point ...

Suggestions welcome!

Joe,
regarding the first issue: DNN 8 CTP 2 has been re-released today.
Main target of the CTP should be developers, who want to create SPA and MVC modules.
I am sure, there will be a couple of sessions about it at DNN Connect conference next week, hopefully some will be recorded.
Regarding Dynamic Content Creator: it is a DNN Corp created alternative for Form and List or https://openform.codeplex.com/.

Cheers from Germany,

Joeseph, I see that Joe's already addressed your first point https://dotnetnuke.codeplex.com/relea... - I suspect the issue was a piece of sql that worked in "full" sql server but not sql express - I noticed this the other day and wondered why it failed on my machine and not Charles - it seems that the script was generated by sql 2014 which generated some syntax sql express did not like.

As to what you can do, there will be blogs and documentation coming out - we'll be updating the developer quick start's as we go - http://www.dnnsoftware.com/wiki/dnn-8...

As to DCC, it's still in development, so is primarily API and the beginning of the UI. It'll be the next release before the full UI is in place.

Thanks Sebastian and Cathal!

With the fix I mentioned I was able to install, and on Microsoft SQL Server 2012 - 11.0.5058.0 (X64). I also checked build 122 and that installs just fine.

Thanks for the pointer to the Wiki. I have lots to do before August, so won't sweat this one!
