Hi,

I created a skin and then a page to which I applied the skin.  All fine.

I then created a module with a single control (Index.ascx), which I placed on the page.  All fine (it uses the skin, whereas the other pages uses the default skin of the site.)

I then added another control to the module (Admin.ascx) and a link from the first (default) control in my module to this control.

While the link navigate to the second control just fine, this control shows with the site's default skin, not the skin I applied to the page.

Any idea how this works?

is the 2nd control an "edit" control - if so it will load the admin skin

Hi,

Nope, it's a View control.  Here's how I got that set in the .dnn file (for incase I got this wrong)

<moduleControl>
  <controlKey>Admin</controlKey>
  <controlSrc>DesktopModules/Knowledgebase/Admin.ascx</controlSrc>
  <supportsPartialRendering>False</supportsPartialRendering>
  <controlTitle />
  <controlType>View</controlType>
  <iconFile />
  <helpUrl />
  <viewOrder>0</viewOrder>
</moduleControl>

I assume this is the one and only place one specify what kind of control it is?

if the url has a ctl in it (i.e. ctl/admin/ or ?ctl=admin) it will be interpreted as an edit and load the admin skin to focus on the operation - this is why admin skins only consist of the contentpane i.e. all other superfluos content such as other panes containing unrelated content/advertising should not appear.

Hi,

thanks for the reply.  and yes, you are right, my url look like this :
http://localhost/dnn5/Actual/Knowledgebase/tabid/79/ctl/Users/mid/409/Default.aspx

I got a asp:linkbutton and in it's click even I do this:
var url = Globals.NavigateURL(PortalSettings.ActiveTab.TabID, "Users", "mid=" + ModuleId);
Response.Redirect(url);

How do I ensure the correct url are being built (again sorry man...I know I should make some time to learn these things before using them, but ain't got no choice right now).

Cheers,
Krok
