Hello, my client first noticed this problem after upgrading from DNN 3.1.1 to 3.3.7. Initially, we noticed the problem was with PDF files but it appears to affect all types.

When I click on a link to document, I can download the file but the resulting file is unreadable.
The link is in this format:
http://www.mydomain.com/LinkClick.aspx?fileticket=18T9XSfEjNA%3d&tabid=200&mid=973&forcedownload=true

I get this error message in Acrobat Reader I get when trying to read the file:
"There was an error opening this document. The file is damaged and could not be repaired."
I get the same error with Foxit Reader.
I'm using Adobe Reader 8 and Foxit Reader 2.0.

If I copy the corresponding file manually from my server, using FTP or whatever, the file is fine and can be read with no problems.

Word documents don't work, either. Neither do plain text! They download as 0 KB files. The PDFs are greater than 0 KB but they're still unreadable.

I've tried downloading the files thru IE7 and Firefox 2.0. Neither works. (incidentally, Firefox truncates the names of the files if they have underscores in the name)

The problem occured with Documents module version 3.1.5. I upgraded to Documents module 3.1.6 and the problem still exists.

Please let me know what I can do to fix this problem. My client has an entire documents library on his site which is now inaccessible!
Thanks,
-Frank

Frank,

just as an idea for testing purposes, try setting the forcedownload url attribute to false instead of true and see what happens.

Thanks for the response. I tried forcedownload=false and got the same errors.
Any other ideas?

Are the files you are trying to download larger than 4Mb?

You might check the request/response size limits in the config settings to see if maybe they were modified in your older version but not in the new one.

No, my sample pdf is around 1MB. I've tested tiny plain text files and they don't work either.
