Hi folks,

I was recently trying to figure out how a portal admin could limit the size of the photo (avatar) to be uploaded in user profile, but couldn't find anything alike. After all it's just an avatar that could be max 20-100kb in size.

The DNN doesn't resize the photo and leaves its original size...

The thing is that users could upload a gig file resulting in inefficient use of the bandwidth and the server resources.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

I am wondering the same thing.

I don't want to limit all file sizes... but think users should only be allowed to upload 50kb max for my purposes.  I want all avatar photos to be square 200x200 or 300x300... they just don't need to be larger on my site.

Some users upload 3MB-5MB photo files that just take forever to load in a user directory.

AFAIK this is a planned feature for DNN 6.2.0

Thanks Sebastian -- I can't seem to find this setting in 6.2.

Maybe it didn't make it to this release?

no limit on avatar file size was added, but avatars now get rendered via the profilepic handler which creates a smaller sized copy of the image (and micro-caches it for performance) so you'll find that the image you see is much smaller than the uploaded image
