Hi All,

This is my first post here, so to begin, hello!

I'm in a bit of a pickle--I have no experience with DNN at all.  I had a web programmer redesign a website for me and left me in the middle of the project.  Most of the dynamic work is done but he destroyed my design on the front end of the site (www.collegeapprentice.com).  I need to know how to change the CSS  and how to upload content.

I know this is a pretty broad question and y'all will probably have follow up questions.  Still, any help I can get will be incredibly helpful!

Hi and welcome to DotNetNuke,

First question would be do you have the Host (SuperUser) and Admin login details? If so, you can log in and (in Edit Mode) you can edit the content of the modules directly rather than uploading content. However if you are designing the site on a local computer, then you would need to upload your changes.

I only have a limited knowledge of CSS and will leave that aspect of your post to others.

I would be inclined to look through the Resources section on this site http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/Resources-Overview.aspx as there is a great deal of information on all aspects of DotNetNuke. The first thing I would do is download the SuperUser Manual from http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/Manuals.aspx

Hope that's a start for you! Post up again if you have more questions.

I just tried to edit my home.ascx and didn't change anything.  Now I'm getting the following error message and the site isn't loading correctly at all:

"Could Not Load Skin: /Portals/0/Skins/Website/Home.ascx, Error: Unknown server tag 'tq:HomeRightPane'. "

Any ideas?

Hi Jay,

Did you manage to fix the error? I see that your home page is loading OK although I see some modules on the Young Exec page have reverted to the default Dark Knight skin.

If you are still having problems, can you be more specific about the issues? Are you still getting the error and, if so, when does it happen?

I have messed up in the past (and sometimes still do) and depending on the extent of the problem, I sometimes get my hosting provider to restore from the backup prior to when the problem started. That said, my host backs up every night and restores free of charge, not all do that.
