Hello,

i installed the media 3.3.0 extension last week. when installing the extension i do remember i got an error saying that a telerik file was being held by something else, sorry im just going from memory and didnt note the specific error. so i thought the install didnt work properly but it did ad the media option was in the module dropdown list. The update button did nothing when i clicked on it but after i restarted this worked fine.

The problem now is it wont play wmv files or swf in html. the wmv file is 18mb roughly and i added wmv to the  i changed the webconfig file to accept 20MB. Host setting file extensions are swf,js,flv,mp4,jpg,jpeg,jpe,gif,bmp,png,doc,docx,xls,xlsx,ppt,pptx,pdf,txt,xml,mp4,xsl,xsd,css,zip,template,wmv. The media module shos the windows media window and controls but when i press play the video wont work.

is there anything im missing to get it to play?

With regards to the HTML code i followd the instructions at http://www.adammer.com/blog/2009/07/how-to-add-flash-video-flv-with-controller-to-the-texthtml-module-in-dnn/

IIS MIME types is set to accept .flv files

if i type http://MYDNNSERVER.COM/Portals/0/videos/OurVideo.flv in the browser i can "see" the file as it asks me if i want to save it to disk

web.config is set to accept 20mb

I just cant see my FLV file in the HTML module. Does anyone have any ideas please?

Do i need to reinstall this module? If i uninstall the module does it not get deleted?

Can you hear the video?  Have you specified a width and height for the video in the module options?

1. Recheck the mime content type in IIS. It should be “video/x-flv” not "application/octet-stream" as I've seen some documentation list it.

2. If that does not solve the problem, please post the object embedding markup that is rendered from the browser source view of the page containing the module. Seeing what is being rendered to the page is the key to solving issues such as this.

3. I'm a bit confused - is it the DotNetNuke Media module or the Html module (or both) that is having problems playing the .flv video?

 Hi William

1. Yess IIS is set as you recommend

2. Sorry im not sure what you mean here im a novice. Do you mean the source code for the page? As in right click on page and copy and paste the page source code?

3 Yes i have a page with HTML trying to play swf file (which points to the flv file) in one pane and the media module trying to play wmv file in another pane. Neither work :(
