Hi Sebastian.  Thanks for your reply.

Relevant Media Settings are as follows:

Link Type:  File ( A File On Your Site )
File Location :  YWIYC/ (Folder in the file structure)

I do not set the settings with the "Only Images Use the Following Settings:" section.  I just verified that they have no affect for my purposes.

I do have Auto-Start checked.

When I go within the File Manager and set the YWIYC folder to anything other than "All", the media file does not play - even when I am logged in as the host.

By the way, Germany is wonderful.  I was in Munchin this past summer & really enjoyed it.

Thanks,

Art

Art, are you using a secure folder? How do permissions look like in your installation - are the lock icons in "administrators" row?

Thanks Sebastian.

>>Are you using a secure folder?

No, I have the Folders set as "Standard - File System"  I did try with both "Secure - File System" and "Secure - Database" with the same behavior.

>>How do permissions look like in your installation - are the lock icons in "administrators" row?

Permissions in the Host Settings are set as ReflectionPermission, WebPermission, AspNetHostingPermission.  In the File Manager when the folder that contains the MP3 files is selected, both lock icons appear in the "Administrators" row of the Permissions section.

Question:  are you personally able to set the folder permissions to something other than "All Users" and get the file to stream?

Thanks,

Art

hm, I just noticed with media 3.3.0 that it only seems to pass URLs properly, which are entered as URLs, not files selected using the UrlControl, which get falsely outputted HTML encoded. Can you try passing the url instead of selecting the file?

I am able to get MP3s to play in the Media Module with the Link Type set as either URL ( link to external resource ) or File ( file on my site ) as long as the folder that contains the MP3 files has permissions set to All.

Whenever I change the folder permissions in the file manager to anything other than All (restricted to Administrator as an example) the media control appears on the page with a status of "Ready" (even though I have auto-start set).  When I click the "Play" button the status changes to "Opening media..." for a moment & then changes back to "Ready" without the media playing.

On your end, are you able to play media (under any configuration) with the folder permissions set to anything other than "All"?

Thanks,

Art
